Biosphere Studio, Tromso Norway

Norway and especially Tromso might not sounds “techno” to most people like Berlin or Detroit but Norwegians artists have long been experimenting with electronic music gaining international praise.

Biosphere aka Geir Jenssen is one, if not the best example of a success without making concessions regarding the quality of his productions.

Biosphere became well known on the worldwide electronic music scene after his track “Novelty Waves” that became a classic of European raves chill out zones during the early nineties.

Ambient specialist, sci-fi inspired productions, Arctic influenced on many projects… To me, he’s definitely a model, an inspiration for Arctic Cycles even if we both sounds very different.

Geir Jenssen is also a lover of mountains, not that much of a surprise since he was born in Tromso… His music productions features field recordings made in the mountains.

He even climbed one of the Himalaya mountains named Cho Oyu (8201 meters) and recorded an album called “Cho Oyu 8201m – Field Recordings from Tibet“… Impressive!
